It’s confirmed: The charming Stitch from Lilo & Stitch will remain a cherished icon for children everywhere following this summer’s resurgence. “The beloved Disney duo is making a significant comeback, with a new generation embracing Stitch’s playful allure, thanks to the live-action film’s May release,” Gotschall notes.
Stitch costumes are readily available at Halloween retailers, but a onesie is also a fantastic choice. The adorable character also makes for a delightful baby costume, with a range of toddler-sized designs offered by various retailers.

The phrase “Chicken jockey” from Minecraft could be the most popular of 2025, and it’s poised to make a comeback this Halloween as children don their diamond-encrusted chestplates. “The pixelated adventure is a top pick for kids who relish creativity and gaming,” Gotschall remarks.
Costumes featuring Minecraft creatures like creepers, ender dragons, or iron gollums blend fun and fear in the perfect way.
Gotschall notes, “Following the enchantment of 2023’s films, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser continue to captivate the audience.” It’s no wonder—these characters offer some of the most enjoyable and recognizable costumes. Mario and Luigi, along with their gaming companions, make for excellent group costumes for friends.
For those who wish to embody a princess, Princess Peach and Daisy are the go-to choices, but if you fancy unleashing your inner dragon, Bowser or Bowser Jr. are your top picks.
Sonic the Hedgehog, another gaming icon, and his friends are ideal for a trio. Dress up as Sonic, Knuckles, or Tails to embark on a candy-collecting race through the neighborhood on Halloween.
The catchy tune “Let it Go” remains a staple in your playlist since 2013—it’s a hit that has stood the test of time. Years later, we’re all still fans of Frozen and its memorable songs.
Gotschall confirms, “Frozen characters remain popular, with Elsa being particularly adored.” If you have a sister or friend to join you, Elsa and Anna make for a perfect duo.
Jumpstart your excitement for Wicked: For Good by dressing up as the beloved duo from Oz. “Glinda and Elphaba remain fan favorites, thanks to the resounding success of Wicked Part 1 and the upcoming release of Part 2,” Gotschall says.
If you’re looking to maintain the quintessential Halloween vibe, Elphaba in her witch’s hat and broom is a classic choice, but for a more glamorous look, consider Glinda’s iconic pink dress.
Disney princesses are a fail-safe option for last-minute costumes. Snow White is an excellent choice as her costume is easily identifiable and can be pieced together with simple items—a blue top, yellow skirt, and a red headband!
When it comes to superhero costumes, Superman is a no-brainer. Stick with the classic red cape and “S” symbol, or opt for his alter ego, Clark Kent, for a twist.
Leatherface, one of the scarier options on the shelves, is a must-have for horror movie enthusiasts. Go all-in with the iconic apron-and-chainsaw ensemble, or DIY your own version with second-hand clothes and a prop mask for a budget-friendly, eerie twist.
SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends are a timeless classic, with numerous characters to choose from if you’re still deciding. “A hit with both Gen Z and Millennial parents, this underwater comedy brings laughter and vibrant colors to any Halloween celebration,” Gotschall says.
This could be the year you finally invest in that inflatable Patrick costume—or showcase your DIY prowess with a homemade SpongeBob box costume.
Star Wars is an excellent group costume choice for the whole family. Go for the classics like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, or Han Solo—or explore fan favorites like Chewbacca and R2-D2.
For fans of this summer’s Fantastic Four, the superhero team makes a great group costume. You’ll find their updated suits in this year’s selection, and if you’re feeling adventurous, consider an inflatable version of the Thing.
The universe of How to Train Your Dragon offers a variety of characters to dress up as for Halloween. If you’re keen on wearing viking attire, Hiccup or Astrid are perfect choices, but if you’re interested in becoming one of the dragons, Toothless or the Light Fury are equally fantastic options.
Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are a classic couple or friend costume. The best part is personalizing them—you can mix and match outfits and accessories to suit your style. A simple DIY version involves pinning or gluing felt eyes, lips, ears, and mustaches to a brown T-shirt or hoodie. And, of course, don’t forget the bowler hat for Mr. Potato Head!
