Rosehip Oil Nails Are Fall’s Most Romantic Neutral Manicure

Liudmila Chernetska

I get it, I get it—another day, another nail polish trend. But hold on to your glitter—this one’s truly unique (I promise). The rosehip oil mani boasts an inner radiance that’s as invigorating as it is evergreen, giving you a feeling of youthfulness, vitality, and agelessness. If rich browns and sultry wines aren’t your cup of autumn tea, this cozy, dusty rose hue could very well become your latest go-to neutral shade.

The name encapsulates the essence. Rosehip oil nails draw their inspiration from the genuine rosehip oil—the nutrient-dense seed extract sourced from the wild rose bush’s fruit (not the petals). For centuries, this oil has been celebrated as a beauty wonder, brimming with hydrating, soothing, and illuminating properties that impart a glowing, healthy look to the skin. Now, this radiant effect is being transformed into a nail art sensation. Once a mere finishing touch in a manicure (nail technicians often use it to nourish cuticles), it’s now the cornerstone of the entire nail design.

Picture rosehip oil nails as your very own nails, but elevated: a translucent, rosy-pink wash with a hint of peach, topped off with a high-shine, jelly-like finish. The outcome? Nails that appear dewy, radiant, and softly lit from within, as if they’ve been dusted with a delicate layer of rosehip oil. Brands are even christening new colors with this trend’s name (take, for example, Gelcare’s Rosehip Oil, which they describe as “lip gloss for your nails”).

Begin by shaping your nails. Any nail shape will work with this style, but short, squoval, and natural nails seem to harmonize with the trend most effectively. Trim and file your nails as required, followed by a gentle pushback of your cuticles.

On clean nails, apply a base coat and ensure it dries entirely. Then, delicately apply your chosen rosehip-inspired polish. Seek a sheer, rosy-pink hue with a jelly-like shimmer. Bonus points if the polish is called something with “Glow” in it. Apply one to two thin layers for a subtle, luminous effect.

To add an extra sparkle, massage a few drops of pure rosehip oil into your cuticles to achieve that vibrant, dewy glow. The cherry on top? Chips seamlessly blend in, and since the color mimics your natural nails, growth is barely noticeable. I have a feeling we’re all going to be embracing the rosehip trend all the way through the holiday season.
